Barricade
The Andersons
Prevent Weeds All Season Long
Barricade is The Andersons' professional-grade pre-emergent weed control. Containing 0.48% of the active ingredient prodiamine, it is one of the most effective and cost-efficient granular weed preventers available. Suitable for use on established lawns and landscape beds, Barricade prevents the germination of more than 30 grass and broadleaf weed species, including crabgrass, goosegrass, foxtail, lambsquarter, henbit, and more.
Barricade features The Andersons' patented Dispersible Granular (DG) Technology, which causes each granule to break down into thousands of micro-particles upon contact with water. This allows Barricade to penetrate through the thatch layer of your lawn and into the soil, where it effectively stops weed seeds from germinating.
When to Apply Barricade — Spring and Fall
Because Barricade is a pre-emergent weed control, it is designed to prevent weeds before they appear — making application timing essential to its effectiveness.
To prevent summer annual weeds in both northern and southern turf types, apply Barricade in early spring before soil temperatures reach 55°F at a four-inch depth. For southern zones, a fall reapplication can help prevent annual winter weeds such as poa annua (bluegrass).
Please note: Barricade requires at least 0.05 inches of irrigation or rainfall to activate.
For Best Results
- Mow your lawn first
- Set your spreader and apply the product
- Clear any product from paved surfaces by blowing or sweeping
- Water in thoroughly
Barricade and Seeding
Just as Barricade prevents weed germination, it can also inhibit the germination of turf grass seed. If you have recently seeded, wait at least 60 days or until after the second mowing — whichever is longer — before applying Barricade.
